Friends,
Have you ever felt like you had a hemp noose around your neck, ready to die at any moment? Time slows to a surreal pace, your brain accelerates, and all of your senses sharpen in a way you could never imagine previously. This is the predicament our hero finds himself in as we meet him in "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge" by Ambrose Bierce. It's up on the site right now...

Friends,
The concluding episode of "The Dream of a Ridiculous Man" is now up on the site. Since Dostoevsky can seem intimidating, I've been making jokes on my Facebook fan page like:
"Yah, sure, Dostoevsky wrote some pretty good stuff, like the novels Crime & Punishment and The Brother Karamazov. But everyone knows his true masterpiece is The Dream of a Ridiculous Man. Say what? That story's up on the website right now? ...Huh. Ain't that a coinky-dink? And lucky for YOU, kind sir or gentl…

Time Crystal is now up to episode 11 and has a small following of a few hundred readers. The experience of reading and editing each episode is worth the effort, but I would really love feedback from readers. I feel the pace is maybe too slow, which accounts for the lack of increase in readership.

I'm so excited and a little nervous and it all feels kind of surreal, but I am now a Podiobooks.com author!
Dreaming of Deliverance is live!
It's a single-reader production--and I do all of the reading--but since it's told in the first person, the main character is a young woman (and I have a young-sounding voice) I think it works well. And I think the story will appeal to people who enjoy speculative,…

I have recently received an email stating that someone wants to be my friend on this community. Well, that's reeally cool - I'm pleased. So I follow the link to accept the friendship and end up on this page/site with absolutley no idea of how to accept my new friend.
So if you've asked my to be a friend, I would absolutely love to be but am hampered by either a lack of technical brain or website that is far too complex foir a bear with little brain, such as myself! :)
All the best to you,
Gar…

Friends,
The new story on the website is called, "The Dream of a Ridiculous Man (Part 1)." It was written by the great Russian author, Fyodor Dostoevsky. It tells the tale of the corruption of a(n) utopia similar to a pre-fall Earth.
I recorded the tracks for the podcast somewhat differently than I ordinarily do. They were longer in length this time. And when I mixed them down, the file was about double the size it normally is. It usually comes out to be around 1 MB per 1 minute of audio, but…

Friends,
Have you ever known someone who was a "goody-two-shoes"? (Much, much worse than a goody-one-shoe, BTW.) Y'know, that little nerd at the front of the class telling the teacher she forgot to give the class homework? Ever wondered what happened to those people later in life?
Well, find out what happens to one such goody-two-shoes, a certain Jacob Blevins, in the current story up on the website, "The Story of the Good Little Boy Who Did Not Prosper," written by America's most searing wit,…

I've been working on the same trilogy for about seven years. It seems like a really long time, but with University followed by a full-time-job, it's been a bit difficult to write consistently. I'm halfway through the second book, though, and if I can keep up the pace I've been going at for the past year, I'm sure I can finish it in the next two years. The problem I have run into is that the work I'm writing now is worlds better than what I wrote when I was seventeen. Of course it is--that's what…

If you just want to be entertained, however, click over to the website. The current post is my performance of H.P. Lovecraft's short story, "The Picture in the House." Lovecraft, of course, is best known as the…

Lost track of how many podcast curses I've gone through. I'm almost at the point of giving up and going with the crappy game set headphone.
Upside, I got through another chapter and mapped out the next chapter. I'm on chapter 13 of the Science Fiction/Fantasy book.
Downside... I bought 2 more mikes and found that my Presonus box is acting weird in a way I can't understand. O.o;; It is recording for the left plug only the left side and the right side only the right side. This would be OK, but w…

My laptop is down. MEDIC!!!
hardware issue with the case and screen... but it's what I use! I need it! Compensating Controls is done. Proving Ground (short story) is done... working on the other projects still and now my laptop is down! There's just something about working on "that" laptop that gets the juices flowing... don't know what I'll do until I can get it fixed!
In other news... I've been playing around with The Next Big Writer, which is a site Greg Crites recommended. Not too shabby..…

As a voracious consumer of primarily audio fiction and other podcasts, it's my observation that there are several factors that contribute to a top-notch Podcast or Audiobook: Story/Writing quality, Reading/Narration Quality, and Audio/Production quality. I assert that without Excellence in Audio, the other factors don't even count. Saying this another way, unless your novel/story/podcast SOUNDS GOOD [that is, the reading is sufficiently articulated for listeners to clearly hear all the words and…

My whole life I've been telling myself stories. When I was little my mom used to make me go to bed before the sun went down; before I was even tired. I did the typical little kid stuff, stealing out of bed to quietly play with toys or reading books under the covers, hoping she wouldn't notice, but I always got caught. My mom was under the impression that if I laid perfectly still with my eyes closed I would fall asleep. Maybe that worked with other kids but not me. When she took away all my book…
