I didn't find the bed music quite so much a problem as Ed, but it's easy to get that level too high. I loaded the file into audacity and the wave form looks clipped, altho it sounds good. There are a couple of places where it's overdriven, it peg...

Thanks Jack!

Back on New Year's Day, Jack Hosley and I sat down on opposite ends of a skype call and this is the result.

I really like how smart Jack made me sound here. Like almost coherent for large portions of the interview.

Kids Today

I know this only tangentially related to PB but wtf.

Daily drive to deposit spawn at various institutions of public instruction this morning, elder sprout asks:

"Hey, Dad? What's podcast?"

Two minute discourse on audiofiles delivered via rss while the machine (and network) are otherwise unengaged. Minor side talk on "watching television vs watching television show." Yes they're both television, but when one is of the cable or air, it's not the same thing as watch… Continue

Variant Interview

I'm running a few days behind on my listening, but y'all should check out this interview with Rick and Anne Stringer on WNDR Radio. The Variant Frequencies group produced the Podiobooks title "The Failed Cities Monologues" and it's cool to hear about this Parsec Award winning effort.

WTG, Rick, and thanks for doing it, Jack.

How Does This Thing Work?

If you're new to Ning, there's some things that you should know to cut down on the disorientation of coming into a new space.

Ning is a kind of "group blog/discussion list." There's a set of components that we share and a set of components we have in common. The shared resources, we all can contribute to. The common components we each have one of to control.

You have an extented profile which includes a blog space. I'm writing this on my blog and you can follow my profil… Continue

Pros and Cons

I *like* the idea that there's a place for us to "chat amongst ourselves" as it were and having the fans cross pollinate the conversation might be an interesting addition, too.

I've been on Ning for a while now in the Classroom 2.0 community and it was interesting to watch it grow from nothing to over 4000 members in a year. Some of the features ... like "groups" ... weren't available a year ago, so the platform is definitely evolving.

The downside is that it's "another place… Continue

Hi Nathan. I really enjoyed Captains Share. So much so that I reheard full share and half Share. Why is it you're not published? When I was in school (lit major), I was told that what was being written wasn't being published. Well at least it can be through audio. I admire your work and look forward to Owner's Share when it's available. Thank you.

Hi Nathan its been a while since i visited the community but had to send you a huge thank you for Captains Share.
Its very rare that a series can sustain the weight the of its forebears but your "share" series does it quite effortlessly(not demeaning the hard work you put in on any of your books) the stories just seem to fit into place in that chrono order that they need to be, having followed Ish from planetside brat to full fledge captain it has just been a blast getting to know not only him but his ship mates too and although I was sad to let go of everyone on the Lois McKendrick in the last book I also recognised that for Ish's story to progress he had to move on.
You have really hit on something here I think Nathan in that you seem to make the mundanity of space flight and commerce exciting when all of your peers throw in explosion and death to mimic that excitement your books have it by the bucketload.
I look forward to every one of your books and blast through them all in as quick a time as i possibly can and then kick myself afterwards for letting myself do it again(quarter, half, full share all gone in the blink of an eye LOL).
I hope there is one more in the share series to come I think I read something about that ion the traders diary but if there isn't I will definetely give any story of your s adamn good listen.
Thanks for everything Nathan.
