If you have any more than a small amount of noise, there is no noise removal that's going to work well. Your best bet is to change where you record. I know it may be a hassle, but a clean signal is the best thing to do.
Run the voice through levelator first, THEN mix with the music. The mix is the last thing you do.
Hey Scribe, you're pretty good! Your pacing is good, your voice is clear. I didn't listen long enough to get a feel for your characters, but I like what I hear so far. You're definitely a step above the usual.
I don't think your cover is at all shoddy. I've certainly seen worse.
