First-time authors get real-world advice from those who have been through this before.
You're right, Jeffrey. I get that all the time. RSS feeds, episode links... none of that matters to the person who is expecting to download the entire book in one shot. In Podiobooks.com 2.0, we WILL give people a chance to download a "traditiona...
And I assume you'll be adding "Podiobooks.com" to the list of available places, soon?
Excellent advice, Jeffrey. I'll build on it with this advice for those with LOADS of important characters: Figure out your approach to the character before you start the book. Start with the characters that have the most dialoge and record a samp...

Extremely picky fans who cringe when the production value isn't nailed.
I think you are trying to view comments from someone who has been banned from the board for spammy activities. Once we delete their profile (ban their account), the comments they left are deleted.
All true, Jeffery. BUT... It is extremely important that files be of the correct volume when done. At least 80% of the submissions I see have volumes that are much too low. That causes all sorts of havoc for listeners, as they have to constantly...

It's not that hard to sound better

You know what I hate? Seeing comments like this:

This is a great book! I'm glad I stuck through the really terrible audio and didn't follow my first inclination to shut it off.

It's too bad I can't listen to this book in the car because the volume is so low. It's fantastic!

The intro music is very loud, so I just skip the first minute and then get into the story.

No, none of these are "live" comments from any one particular book. But variations on those themes do crop up… Continue

Reflections on the impact of community

WOW. Our little community here has grown to over 300 members, been featured on the Ning homepage, and has become a valuable resource for many. I'm stoked. Thanks to everyone who is participating.

I'm most thrilled to see the outstanding questions asked and advice given in the Mentorship program. This is certainly leading to better quality of submissions coming in to us, which helps rise all boats.

I look forward to seeing where this will take us all!

Off to a great start!

I'm STOKED that so many authors have jumped in and have gotten the ball rolling. Now if we can talk those into really cracking their knuckles on the various parts of this site and finding ways to ENHANCE THE EXPERIENCE, we're in great shape.

Here's to hoping. Oh, and to pushing. I do that.

If there's one thing I'm good at, it's following the rules, lol. Got my ep one up on the mentor section though sadly Eps 1-9 are already canned for the most part, so just getting advice to tighten my game up for 10-18. I should have come sooner!

Thanks for the welcome! I have a book in the pipe line, due for editing this summer and hopefully recorded in august some time. It's great to have found a place to publish my work and I am really excited. It is my first time after all!
