It's a big decision. I've heard it both ways. The big NY peeps don't care about the podcasting-- don't think it's valid, but the podcasters who have gotten published got so many fans, they proved they were buyable. ~shrug~ Everyone's got to decide which way to go. In my case, I'm podcasting some novels, trying to sell others and we'll hope one way works.
Yes- having guest voices is hard. Most of us don't do it because we can't count on the other person to follow through. It's not their dream, it's ours and so they can be flaky. I have heard a few podcasters have "guests" like if the charrie is only in one chapter, they may cameo.
Thanks for listening to NK! :) it was a little bumpy up there in the first chapters. I think by the end I really developed my style which will carry me through. It's a useful way to flush out errors and to really hear what a paragraph sounds like because if you're listening and you're bored... you know the readers will be. Or if you like a certain part, you may want to expand. I've done a lot of editing at the recording step. I think it's helped how I write things. Even if you podcast for yourself, it's very usefull. Course, might as well get fans while you're at it.
Whooo hooo! Vamp stories rock. :) Well, if you'd like to listen to mine, I'd be honored. Some people get on me because my chick Jespa is too mean and strong. I like tough chicks who can kick some butt! Hhehe. Anyway, if you'd like to listen to mine, it's on podiobooks, or you can d/l from itunes here:

I was actually pleasantly surprised by your first episode. Great voices, great music, great story. Freakin' hick truck dudes. I hate guys like that. Grrr… But good hick voices. Loved it. The episode is fine on it’s own. I usually have lots of feedback to give, but I didn’t hear any issues with the sound or too much clicking with the voice changes. If I had to same something ~ I’d say, sometimes the female voices are hard to tell apart. Course… I’m one of those people that gets flack for having too many voices… so… hehehe consider the source. I love non-traditional relationship stories so I think you will do great. I haven’t heard of anyone else doing this kind of thing. Good luck!
Yes! I read different things as well. I'm excited to hear your stuff. Let me know when it's a go and I'll tune in.
If you want to listen to mine, I just finished my Vampire Podnovel Night's Knights on Podiobooks. It was kinda bumpy at the start, but by the end of it I think I had learned a great deal about podcasting. Fan feedback really helps too!
Good luck. If you have any questions (not that I am the podcasting queen or anything) feel free to ask. I will help if I can.
Dharma,
Welcome! HAHA, I just read your blog about your recording problems. I have two cats and they LOVE to meow just at the wrong times. Stinkers. But I love them.
Oh well, back to the closet!
Writing's going okay. I recently wrote a blog post about the novel I'm working on right now. I released Dragons' Truth on Podiobooks a couple months ago, and I'm working on recording another of my novels, Lost and Not Found, right now.
Good luck with yours! Audio certainly opens new avenues for getting your ideas out.
I wish you all the luck in the world! I am also looking for publication. I write mostly horror. I just finished my first vampire podnovel. I wish you luck with your book. Once you get it all ready and get a promo, let me know and we can maybe swap promos. You can send a promo to: emzbox@sbcglobal.net Even though our shows aren't alike, fans are always looking for something new. So what's the first step? Have you been investigating everything? Hheheh... some people investigate the process for years! I say, investigate some, then jump on in.
