I have used the tts system quite a bit. First I used it before podiobooks and others like it were available. I wrote a small program that I could feed downloaded textfiles into and burned the resultant audio to disk for my long commutes. After a w...

What the other posters have said is right. We've got a decent community here; if you poke around on the boards, you should be able to find somebody who is willing to volunteer or work for barter.

I grabbed one at random – chapter 16. Your intro is a list of reasons to stop listening. Random listeners don't care if you wrote it overnight or labored over it for years, or that you listened to it in your car, or that you might get it published...

I also use a synthesized voice to proofread my writing. I don't recommend it Even the best ones don't come that close to the inflections in a human voice. Also, even the best readers still have some pronunciation problems. Perhaps your voice has ...

There are a few Amateurs who actually need the practice. I've listened to a few episodes, I've got a deal for you. I'm willing to record and edit the Audio at least one story for $0, BUT only If you're willing for be a test reader and/or listener...

I agree with Nathan. My intent was not to pimp my wares. It was to tell you that there are options, and any of them are better than TTS. Those options are to do it yourself, or utilize the discounted narration services that Podiobooks offers.

It's possible you're right about the different worlds. I can't imagine a world where you get a hundred new listeners a month on a computer voiced, incomplete work. A hundred downloads, maybe but new listeners? I've listened to the first episode a...

After I posted this I noticed the number of posts from voices looking for payment. I guess we live in different worlds. I made my story with little hope of making money from it and posting it in the hope that someone might be entertained. When I s...

Find someone. TTS is a joke and you'll be unhappy with the results. And frankly, no one will listen to your book beyond the first few minutes. Even doing it yourself will be better than a robot voice for 7 hours. If you choose to look for someone...

It's 2009. As of right now, there is no ability for any computer-generated text-to-speech software that is of acceptable quality. If you are unable to narrate the book, find a willing party who will. As Mike indicated, our requirements are only ...

Not listened to it. But here goes.. Evo/Podiobooks.com will accept your work since all their rules are Techical. So Chances are if you can meet them you can get it on the Site. BUT The Audicance is differnt. Most of the readings by TTSes are emo...

I have a very poor reading voice, but some time ago I use a fairly decent text to speech reader to create a 'podcast' version of a book I've been working on for years. I sort of used to listening to text to speech things myself, so I personally a...

How do you listen to your podiobooks?
I change the frequency depending on the title
How much do we rock?
I'm a talk radio man myself.
Favorite Quote:
Roads go ever ever on,
Over rock and under tree,
By caves where never sun has shone,
By streams that never find the sea:
Over snow by winter sown,
And through the merry flowers of June,
Over grass and over stone,
And under mountains in the moon.

Roads go ever ever on
Under cloud and under star,
Yet feet that wandering have gone
Turn at last to home afar,
Eyes that fire and sword have seen
And horror in the halls of stone
Look at last on meadows green
And trees and hills they long have known.
