I'm so glad you're on the community! I loved Singularity so much I listened to it twice. Just the prologue spawned hours of discussion between my friend and I. We'd never really heard of the Tunguska Event before and we were both prompted to scour the 'nets for more info. Can't wait for the sequel.

Definitely pleased to hear that. And glad there's a sequel coming. The plot is good, but the characters have their own inner-workings... they're not cardboard. That's not easy to do.

I agree with Chris... and I came to your podiobook with the x-files Tunguska story arc in mind as well. You nailed it in a way that feels plausible in the reading. A black hole beneath the earth's crust is genius as far as a doomsday scenario is concerned. Putting it in the hands of the Russians plays right into the old Cold War angst I think a lot of us still feel. It's really all the suspense of James Bond and the best of Clive Cussler as far as the evil villains are concerned... but it has the advantage of not deviating from scientific possibility.

Oh... and, seriously, the Bonaventure-Knox thing is really well done. That drives the story as much as anything else I think.

That leaves me with the paradox at the end... I love chicken and egg paradoxes. To quote Michael O'Hare, uttering the sacred words of J. Michael Strazcinski (Babylon 5), "I go back because I always go back." And it is the going back that causes the event that causes Grishin to want to go back in the first place. Pretty danged cool.

Thats great news as Singularity is the most intelligent science fiction podcasted book that i've listened to,it was actually thought provoking.
As the event at Tunguska more to the front of the public psyche when it was feaured on the x-files this was a more fulfilling take on the event and given the obvious amount of research gone into the book maybe a more plausible take on it.
I look forward with great relish to the sequel and any other works you produce.
