I've read a couple of threads regarding hosting podcasts and I'm a little confused. Does Podiobooks host the podcasts themselves or does Libsyn do so on their behalf?
Would I have to use a podcast hoster for my 5-episode podiobook, or would I be able to use my own website to set up a feed?
Also, is Libsyn the only hosting service that Podiobooks use, or are there others?
As far as I can tell Libsyn hosts it on behalf of Podiobooks. Libsyns system works a in a way that it's better for all.
Podiobooks can be access with out a Podiobooks account, you can access several Books via iTunes Store. There is a Public Feed for people to use without an account. I'd check with Evo, if you can post the Public Feed Address on your own site.
I also am not a techy, but my understanding is Libsynpro hosts the Podiobooks feeds. We should all have our own websites (helps promote book), with our own rss feeds if we choose and can have added content (Tee calls jibber jabber). I learned this from Rhonda Carpenter of Podioracket, and I'm sure she'd be able to explain it to you better than I. Also, I'm sure a techy will notice this post and answer it fairly soon, so you could just wait for fortune to smile...craig
Libsyn is our partner for media file hosting. We receive well over 70,000 episode downloads every single day. That's a huge amount of bandwidth, and a content distribution system is required to facilitate such a load.
You can use whatever you want to host your files for your indie feed. The files you submit to us will be hosted on Libsyn, as they are our hosting partner.
