Podiobooks.com Community

A place for all fans, authors and creators of Podiobooks.com

Authors & Producers ,

We're getting interest from several music podcasters on doing a series of shows featuring the music you've used in your serialized audiobooks. I think this is great exposure for all of us.

To help facilitate that for said podcasters, we need to start compiling a list of the music used in our books. I'm sure there's a better way to do this -- perhaps we need someone capturing this info? -- for for now, here's a quick solution.

Add your own music here, as a reply to this post. If you can, provide a direct link to the band's page, or somewhere that makes it easy for someone to access the music you used. You'll probably also want to list the name of your book and the name of author for proper crediting on the show(s).

Make it happen!

Here's the Edward G. Talbot music:

For New World Orders, I used music by two artists:
1. Intro music is done on an African stringed instrument called the cora, by the artist Usmane Jobartay. No web site for him, as it happens, the artist is my father who (among other things) teaches this instrument as well as African drumming.

2.Promo music and outro music is blues by Daveski, web site http://www.soundclick.com/daveski

For Intercast Season One, I used a single piece of music, The Battle, by Jay Underberg, web site:

For Murder at Avedon Hill (P.G. Holyfield), I have a music page on my website that features all the music and musicians used on the podcast:

The music for The Failed Cities Monologues came from three sources.

The theme music for FCM was written and performed by my son Neil and his guitar instructor Greg Seaman. The theme that we use for Sterne was "Spherical" by Evan Tate. All of the rest of the music was put together using Apple's Garageband.

For The Zombie Chronicles, all my music comes from Australian rockers, Mz Ann Thropik. They did a custum intro and outro for me.

For City of Masks, which is set kind of Renaissance-ish, I used some Renaissance lute music that I sourced from classical guitarist Jon Sayles. He's an excellent fellow who makes his music available for anyone to use.

I used Witches' Dance as my outro, and various pieces with more or less appropriate titles to introduce each section - I would pick a character as the featured one for the section and use their theme tune. For example, ponderous Bass's theme was "What if I Never Speed?" and the old scholars' was "Shall I Strive with Words to Move". The moody Corius's was "Unquiet Thoughts", and Rivers, who opens the book complaining about how things have been with his wife lately, has "Can She Excuse My Wrongs?".

Ooh. I like this idea.

Opening theme for Crescent is a tune called Chrysalis by the band Chrysalis. http://www.chrysalisband.com

The music within Crescent was composed by me and includes the following tracks.

1. Welcome to Crescent
2. Twilight in the Market Square
3. World Outside the Corner of Our Eyes
4. Adrift
5. Other Side
6. the Meat Grinder
7. the Red
8. Come Inside

Music for Eden was originally composed for the podcast by John Athayde (http://www.boboroshi.com). It was a blast to work with another musician to come up with the score.

1. Opening Theme
2. Eden
3. Rosalyn's Theme
4. There is Life (don't know if that's the actual title for this one)

There may be a couple more tunes composed between now and the end of the podcast.

Opening theme for Notes from the Vault is the tune Arcadia by Chrysalis

Harvey, which is forecast to land early summer will include an all original soundtrack. I've discovered a tune that I want to use for the opening theme, but I the artist is pretty big time so cross you fingers. I've composed the sound track for Harvey and have begun recording it. Tracks include:

1. Auto Exodus
2. Motel
3. Gift
4. Let’s Skip This Thing
5. Dream Light
6. Run Little Girl, Run
7. Once in the River
8. It’s all Different Now
9. Breathe

I'll be releasing tracks as the novel progresses. The protagonist is recording this very album during his stay in the town Harvey where the action takes place. think it will make for a fun and different sort of immersion for my listeners.

Probably the best way to get tracks from any my podcasts is to contact me directly, some are available/accessible, some are not, but I'd gladly provide all for use in this concept.

I really liked the music you used. It has fit perfectly for both Crescent and Eden.

The song "I am a Carpenter" in Clear Heart is sung by Will Fourt of the band Five Dollar Suit.

The song "Second Growth Woods" in Boone Barnaby is likewise sung by Will Fourt of the band Five Dollar Suit.

For both songs, the versions I use in my podcasts were recorded by Will using a different set of musicians than his regular band, so you'd have to contact him directly for permission to use the music. You can reach him as WillFourt@gmail.com

Music for THe fox by Arlene Radasky
Beyond my wildest dreams, I have been given permission to use any of Steve McDonald’s songs I wish in my podcast and now in my audible book. A full song at the end of every chapter.
I have used songs from one of his first albums, Spinfield and songs from his Celtic music albums; Stone of Destiny, Legend, Highland Farewell, and Sons of Somerled.
All the songs are listed on my website here

I actually composed a theme for How to Succeed in Evil. The sad piano music thingy. It was before podsafe music, so I was behind the 8 ball. Listeners like it so much, they wrote in about it. http://www.succeedinevil.com/episodes/htsietheme.mp3

Then I found a song called Ether, by the Flavor Foundation. Really felt downtempo and inexorable. Fit the story, so I started using that as a theme. http://www.theflavorfoundation.com/mp3/Ether.mp3

The music for Children of the Old Stars and Heirs of the New Earth was composed and performed by Steve Starcher. He can be reached at his MySpace site: http://www.myspace.com/stevestarcher

At his site, he has "The Other Side of the Galaxy" which was used as the intro and outro music for Heirs of the New Earth along with some other pieces I used as incidental music.
